Department Characteristics

The department can develop school-running characteristics according to educational goals, such as strengthening students' practical ability, cross-field integration and application ability, or international integration ability, etc., so that students can interact and connect well with the workplace, other fields, and the international community. The characteristics of the undergraduate and master programs of the department are described below.

Under-Graduate's Education Goals Characteristics 
Guide students to know  Korea national conditions and culture. ・ Offer courses related to history, literature, and culture in the field of Korean humanities, as well as courses in the field of social economy and trade related to Korean industry, Korean current situation, etc., and strive to enhance students' in-depth understanding of all aspects of South Korea and East Asia, and accumulate students' future employment or academic career basis of research.
・ Established Global e-School video course with Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, using the video conferencing system to attend classes with students from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and the Korean Department of National Chengchi University.
Develop professionals with global perspective and knowledge of Korean affairs. ・In order to enhance students' global perspective and competitive edge, the department has signed sister schools with 45 universities in South Korea, and all students of the department can apply to study in Korea for one year to improve their global competencies.
Develop students' proficient in Korean listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation skills. ・ Offer Korean listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation courses to focus on training Korean skills.
・Guide students' diversified development by follow the trend of nowadays society ・ Offer courses such as "Economic Trade Korean", "Tourism Korean", "Practical Korean of Tourism Guide", etc., to study related topics such as Taiwan-Korea tourism, Taiwan-Korea economics and trade, Korean teaching methods, etc., so students' practical ability is being strengthened.
・ Some courses invite industry leaders to do co-teaching. Industry leaders will teach for at least 6 hours, so that students can understand the relevant industry overview and practical experience through the sharing of industry leaders,. Athe same time connection for future employment is buillt during the interaction with industry leaders.
・Arrange company visits to let students understand the actual operation of the company.
・Develop students' healthy personality, active knowledge-seeking thinking and independent thinking ability. ・Undergraduate courses have greatly reduced the required credits, changed them to semester courses , and introduced the concept of course splitting. From the second semester of the junior yer, all courses are changed to electives except for the some core courses, so that students can choose according to their personal  development.
・Assist students in taking interdisciplinary program courses to develop student's
adaptability cross-field.

 

Under-Graduate's Education Goals Characteristics 
Develop professionals with global perspective and knowledge of Korean affairs. ・Master's program students can apply for exchangeprogram to study in Korea for one year to enhance their global competencies.
・The Department has signed a Joint Dual-degree system with four universities in South Korea. Students can obtain both master degrees in Taiwan and South Korea at the same time, and obtain good interactions and connections with the international community.
Train domestic Korean language teachers ・Our department promote the  "Cultivating Elite Korean Teachers and Intensively Developing Korean Secondary Foreign Language Education" project and signed a “trainee teacher dispatch cooperation plan” with Shixin High School, Yucheng High School in November, and Lanya Junior High School in December , so that it becomes the link between students and the workplace in the future.
Cooperate with the trend of the times to guide students to develop in a variety of ways. ・Invite industry experts to give lectures in the school according to course needs, such as "Korean Economic Development and Policy Analysis" and other courses, so that students' learning can be connected with various fields.
Develop professionals in the field of Korean studies. ・Our master’s courses are divided into three major areas: "Korean Linguistics and Korean Language Teaching", "Korean Literature and Sinology", "Korean Social Economy and Diverse Applications", to meet the needs of domestic Korean language teaching and research, and to connect with East Asian Sinology needs, as well as the social needs of in-depth exploration of Korean political economy and culture.
・ In order to provide a contact point between graduate courses and the academia and develop the academic research ability of master students, our department add-on "graduate students session"at the "2nd Western Pacific Korean Education and International Academic Conference" since 2011. Students are actively encouraged to participate , so the ability to communicate with the international academia is built.
